What stays on your device

Your practice settings (tempo, meter, instrument, theme and so on) are saved in your browser on your own device, not on our servers. So are a few small things the app needs to work:

• Daily free-plan counters (for example, how many new exercises you've made today).
• Whether you're over or under 18, if you've answered the age question. We keep only that answer, never your birth date, and it is not sent to us.
• A guest pass, if you've entered a pass code, and when it ends.
• A partner's referral code for 60 days, if you arrived through a partner's link, so they can get credit if you subscribe later.
• Anything you've sent us while offline, until it can be delivered.

You can clear all of this at any time by clearing your browser's site data for shedtimemusic.com.

What you choose to send us

• Early-bird list: your email address, which feature or page you signed up from, any partner code, and whether you'd also like to hear about other ShedTime teaching products. We use it to tell you about launch pricing and, only if you said yes, other products. Every email will have an unsubscribe link.
• Feedback & ideas: your message, your email if you add one (only so we can reply), the screen you were on, your plan, your instrument and basic browser information (to help us fix problems).
• Ratings & reviews: your star rating, your review, and the name you'd like to be credited by. We only share a review publicly if you ticked the box allowing it, and we share it word for word.
• Pass codes: when you enter a code we record that the code was used and when, so we can limit how many times it's used. This isn't linked to your name or email.

Under 18

ShedTime is for musicians of all ages. Before anyone sends us an email address, feedback or a review, we ask for a birth month and year. If the player is under 18, a parent or guardian must step in and approve before anything is sent, and we ask them to use their own email address. Practicing in the app never requires personal information.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent's or guardian's approval. If you believe a child has sent us personal information without that approval, email hello@shedtimemusic.com and we'll delete it.

Microphone and camera

Voice commands and "Speak chords" use your browser's built-in speech recognition. We never receive or store the audio. Depending on your browser, the browser maker may process the audio to turn it into text (for example, Google Chrome sends it to Google). You can turn the microphone off at any time in your browser.

"Scan a page" reads the photo on your own device. The image is not uploaded to us.

Services we use

• Cloudflare hosts the website, keeps it secure, and gives us visitor counts (Cloudflare Web Analytics). Those analytics don't use cookies and don't track individual visitors.
• Supabase stores the early-bird list, feedback, reviews and pass-code use, on servers in the United States.
• Google Fonts and jsDelivr deliver fonts and the free page-reading tool to your browser, which means they see your device's internet address when those files load.

When paid plans open, payments will be handled by a payment processor (such as Stripe). We will never see or store your full card number. We'll update this page before that happens.

How long we keep it

We keep early-bird emails until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, and feedback and reviews for as long as they help us improve ShedTime. You can ask us to delete anything you've sent at any time.

Your choices and rights

• Ask what we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@shedtimemusic.com.
• Unsubscribe from emails with the link in any email we send.
• Withdraw permission to share your review, and we'll take it down.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law. We'll honor them.

Security

Information is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our database only lets the app add new entries; reading them requires an owner's login.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects information you've already given us, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
